Let’s keep this one short too…
If you own your home outright, YOUR home (title) is the home the thieves can easily steal.
If you have a lien (mortgage, line of credit or the like) they would have to payoff that before they could steal you title.
Two things you could do to prevent this:
– get a line of credit on your home…even if you don’t use it! That causes a lien on your home. They won’t have the authority to pull the balance and close the lien.
– sign up for Fulton county has set up a notification system. You can sign your property up and Fulton County will send you a text and/or email if something about your property gets filed. This won’t stop the problem but you will know as soon as something is filed….less damage to fix.
